Vegan Socks by Hirsch Natur

The story of HIRSCH NATUR goes back to the year 1928, when restaurant owner and trade representative Franz Kloppenborg founded a hosiery knitting mill in the small town of Laer, close to Münster in Westphalia, Germany. Initially producing robust work socks, the mill has now produced socks made from sustainable raw materials for over 30 years. A part of the natural textile scene from the beginning, the company is one of the founding members of the International Association of Natural Textile Industry.

Sustainability is an important component of HIRSCH NATUR philosophy that is not only limited to the use of organic cotton in production. Since 2009, half of the energy used by the factory comes from power generated by solar cells, and the production waste as well as the packaging material for the yarns is completely recycled by partner companies in nearby Emsdetten. In addition, special attention is paid to ensure that the water consumption for the process of prewashing socks is kept as low as possible.
